Do I need the Adobe Acrobat 3D product to use your Sketchup-to-pdf
product? Or will this do all I need to create a PDF page with the
embedded 3D object. We already use Acrobat 6 and Acrobat elements to
produce PDFs now.

Is there a trial version? Our initial tests would be with SketchUp free,
with the production environment using Sketchup Pro.

RPS 3D PDF creates interactive PDF files all on its own. You do not need Adobe Acrobat. If you have Adobe Acrobat 3D, then you can load the PDF files and modify them. But we have found that trying to work with interactive 3D documents in Adobe can be very difficult. We have tried to anticipate most of what you might want to do and incorporated it into RPS 3D PDF.

You will need Adobe Reader 7.0.7 or later to view the 3D files.

A trial version is available. Register for this forum and proceed to the downloads area.

With Google SketchUp (free), you can import saved .SKP files and create .PDF files.

With SketchUp Pro, you can also export the document directly from SketchUp.

A quick question before we get into this too deep. Do we need to have Acrobat 8.0 Creator because what we have is Acrobat 6.0 and Acrobat 8.0 Viewer.

No. We don't use Acrobat to make the file. You just need Acrobat Reader to view the file.

Your getting an error when we make the file, right?

You said that the 3D image appeared on the page, so it sounds like the error is happening when the we are composing the PDF after making the U3D image.

We store all the settings that you used right there in the PDF file, so if I just had the files I might be able to recreate the problem.

It might be a font problem on WIndows 2000.

On another topic, you can use our 3D PDF application to just save U3D files, which you should be able to import into a PDF file using Acrobat 8.0 Creator. So you could make any page format that you like.
