We posted a new version, GI20p, which fixed these two problems:

1. Metric page sizes were not working.

2. An error was sometimes occurring when trying to make a PDF file a second time.

We posted a new version, GJ01p, which fixed a problem where we were distributing a "Debug" version of a DLL needed to make the U3D file.

We posted a new version, GJ09p.

This version fixes these problems we found:

Use XML Exporter mode.

The Use XML Exporter mode, on the Options/Model tab, had been broken. It is working again in this version.

Error Email

We also added more information to the Send Email function on the Error dialog, to help us determine what might have caused your error.

Edge lines.

We were putting out too many faces for the Edge Line feature. We corrected this, so we now make smaller files again for PDFs, when using edge lines.

We also added a feature to put out fewer edge lines for corners between two faces. Instead of using 8 triangles to construct 2 2-sided crossed faces representing the edge line, we only use 4 triangles to make one 2 sided face, which in positioned using the normals of the 2 faces defining the edge line.

There is a button on the Options/Model tab to apply this, if you want to try this Smart Corner edge line feature.

We posted a new version, GJ10p.

We noticed that we were now always drawing a border around the Logo image on the PDF page.

We now don't draw that border by default in this version.

If you want to draw that border, you can toggle it on with the Show Border checkbox on the Options/Page tab.

We posted a new install for the latest version, GJ10p, which includes a dll, gdiplus.dll, which is needed for the application to run on Windows 2000 computers.

XP and Vista users will not need this update.

Lasest installation zip file: 3D_PDF_2_0_GJ10pb.zip

We added 4 checkboxes to help display our 3D PDFs in web pages, without all the PDF menus and toolbars. You can also set the PDF to open in full screen mode, if that helps.

These are on the Options/Document tab:

Hide Menubar
Hide Toolbar
Hide Sidebar
Display Fullscreen

A new version HB27p has been posted on the download page.

You can see a simple example of embedding 3D PDFs in a web page at:

or a more elegant example at:

We posted a new install for the HB27p version, with the redistributable package for the MSVC 2005 DLLs included.

You should only need to install this version if you were getting an error message that the file "rtf2pdf.exe" could not be executed.

I have pulled the link to the the new version which supports SketchUp 7.0.

It still needs further testing.

We released the new version of 3D PDF, which works better with SketchUp 7 models.

We fixed a few initial bugs we found, and successfully ran it using dozens of test models that we have here.

We released the new version of 3D PDF, which fixes bugs found with using last font settings, and JPEG quality for new models. It also now recognizes the last SketchUp file saved, for SketchUp 7 files.

We also added an option to set the initial zoom factor for the PDF. This is on the Options/Documents tab and is set as a percent of the page size.

We removed the option to use the old SKP to XML extractor, since this was no longer working with SketchUp version 7.

We posted a new release, IF24p, which does a better job of displaying edges in the U3D model.

If "Display All Edges" is checked, we now only display those edges that are not hidden by softness or smoothing in SketchUp. We also added a "Tube" mode for displaying the edges, which may work better for you that the simple "Crossed faces" mode that we normally use.

Also, we dropped the Export 3D mode for this product, since it hasn't worked since SketchUp 7 was released. It now only runs in stand-alone mode, from the desktop icon or from clicking on "skp_to_3d_pdf.exe" in the Render Plus Systems\3D_PDF installation folder.

We released a new version, IJ01p, with these fixes:

* Faces in groups or components, which are in Layer0 will display even if Layer0 is turned off.

* When exporting 2 sided faces, both the front and reverse faces materials will be displayed respectively. "Export 2 sided faces" is on the Options/Model tab.

* The model is now drawn to scale, so that the PDF measurement tool in Acrrobat will work correctly. You can set the default units to be used for measurement on the Options/Documant tab.

* "Fit SketchUp view into U3D area" is now saved into the registry, so that the last setting used will be used for the next new model that is converted.

I removed the link to IJ01p, which had a problem with zoom and rotate. We'll fix this and post it again.

I posted a version, IP06p, that fixes the problem we were getting with the view automatically zooming in too closely while rotating.

We have a feature that automatically sets a maximum zoom factor, so that if a user accidentally zooms out so far that he can't see the model any more, we zoom in close enough so that, at least, they can see the model again. Adding the new feature to keep the model in its original scale broke this. It's working again.

We also fixed a bug where we weren't scaling textures properly. This only happened for the reverse side of a face in a group with a texture applied to the group, and only if there was a texture appied to the front side of that face. This is working now.
